Employers will experience the costs of health-related lost productivity (HRLP), regardless of whether they offer employer-sponsored health insurance to employees. However, they can take steps to create a workplace that supports employee productivity, helps keeps employees at work and ultimately reduces costs. Taking advantage of the window of opportunity presented by short-term disability is a key step towards this goal.
