Workers with chronic health conditions returned to work to avoid disciplinary measures but suffered additional episodes of presenteeism. Worse, workers didn't tell employers about their chronic conditions until facing job action. Undisclosed chronic conditions can’t be managed and presenteeism is harder to manage than absence because it is harder to identify.
