U.S. retail industry was hard hit by the global economic downturn that began in 2008. As one of the leading retailers affected by the recession, JCPenny was dedicated to improving their health and productivity programs despite the economic obstacles they encountered. The session, presented by Matthew Harmon of JCPenney and Teresa Bartlett of Sedgwick, described the continuing success of JCPenney's integrated health programs and their journey over the last five years. They focused on facing the challenges of the economic upheaval and the accompanying changes to leadership and corporate culture. Highlighting JCPenney's commitment to improving benefits programs, the discussion recounted the determining forces behind producing incredible results for the company.
