Few databases across multiple claims administrators exist to give basic information about FML claims. IBI’s 2007 claims information on nearly 370,000 claims from 340 employers gives new insights. One in eight workers had a claim, averaging 18 days of lost work time. Information about continuous vs. intermittent claims and “own condition” vs. family “illness” provides new analysis to help employers manage absence.
