Though stroke is a serious medical issue, this analysis shows that about 70% of the $144,722 in stroke costs per claimant are associated with wage replacement payments and lost productivity. Fortunately, early and effective case management, new treatments, and return-to-work interventions, even for LTD cases, are likely to significantly reduce these broader, non-medical costs.
